in character;

Premade: THE FRENCHY
Name: Artemis Darling Madarang
Nicknames: She went by Missy until Miranda was dumped by Scorpious for not being "deep" enough - out of a somewhat misplaced sense of solidarity, Artemis decided to show her support by going by more dignified nicknames. It's Artemis, Art, or Arty now, although she gets the occasional "Miss" or "Missy." Her mother still calls her Darling.
Age & DOB: 16 & September 7
House & Year: Hufflepuff & 6th
Achievements: Other than being really, really ridiculously good-looking? Artemis used to be a member of Hoggywarts until Gretchen told her that only dweebs had school spirit, which makes sense sort of. She's in Charms Club even though she failed her Charms OWL and isn't doing too well in Remedial Charms - really, the only reason Adler hasn't kicked her out is because she always compliments his clothes. She's not really in Gobstones Club because Gobstones are totally disgusting, but sometimes she'll go watch the games 'cause they're funny.
Blood Purity: Muggleborn, with Muggle (ie non-magical) parents.
Sexual Orientation: She definitely likes boys, okay? Regardless of whatever Colin Creevey says she did when she was drunk that one weekend fourth year.

appearance;

Height: 5'6"
Weight: Oh my god you can't just ask people that. Rude.
Appearance: Artemis is pretty. She's lucky, too, since it's about the only thing she really has going for her. She's a very striking sort of pretty, too, with a long and delicate-looking face, pale skin, pale eyes, and usually some abhorrently bright shade of lipstick. But more than her pretty, straight blonde hair or her occasionally morally question choice of wardrobe, Artemis is easily identified by the constant look of utter cluelessness she wears. To be honest, Artemis doesn't actually look that stupid when she shuts up and stands still, but as soon as she attempts abstract thought, well. She looks like a goddamned idiot.

history;

Family: Morton Madarang, father: Morton single-handedly made Madarang one of the most recognized names in Muggle fashion, and what did he get for his troubles? A bastard brat of a daughter and an eternally bitter wife. Perhaps its karma for getting his muse and favorite model pregnant at the height of her career. Either way, since adopting Artemis, Morton has become a much less... spirited person. He still goes about his life as a socialite, but Artemis's constant financial and emotional demands are starting to take a toll on him. He's developing stress lines. Were it not for the fact that Artemis is away at Hogwarts almost all year, Morton would likely have had a heart attack by this point.
Rachelle Madarang, step-mother: Rachelle hates her husband's freak bastard daughter. Why wouldn't she? Missy is the product of an affair everyone would rather forget, and, what's more, she's taking away money that the legitimate Madarangs could very well be using for their own shopping sprees. But no, it's all about pleasing Missy because her poor mother doesn't love her. As far as Rachelle is concerned, Artemis is a leech; she's just waiting for the girl to turn 18 so Rachelle can pretend she never existed. Artemis, on the other hand, thinks the world of her stepmother, and hasn't yet noticed that Penelope wishes she would choke on her hairspray and die.
Honey Sampson, mother: A beautiful, glamorous, and extremely flighty model. While the gossip rags told jeremiads of Morton seducing and harshly leaving this poor waif of a woman, in actuality, Honey herself was a bit of a flirt known for her "wherever I hang my hat, that's my home" mentality. Her home was with her boss Morton for a brief while, but, unlike her previous flings, this one had consequences: namely, Missy. Honey wasn't prepared to take care of a child, emotionally or financially, and convinced Morton to adopt the bastard girl. Artemis desperately wants to be like her mother, with whom she communicates irregularly and not very frequently, though she constantly feels abandoned by her.
Kristina Madarang, step/half-sister: Artemis's step- and half-sister Kristina, who is awkwardly close to being her own age, is much like Artemis would have been had she had something more closely approaching a well-adjusted childhood. While she, too, is obsessed with the superficial, she has a head on her shoulders, as well; she's far less flighty than Artemis is, and is in fact rather an enterprising young woman with dreams of taking over the Madarang label. Artemis has tried in the past to bond with her sister, but they never quite got along; still, Artemis writes letters back to Kristina. It's all in vain, since Kristina is terrified of owls, but its the thought that counts.
Family History: Morton Madarang and Honey Sampson had everything going for them. Everything! They were both simultaneously reaching the climactic points of their careers, both in the world of fashion; and, unsurprisingly, they were both also reaching the climactic points of their sexual lives. Morton flitted from model to model behind the back of his beautiful and eternally patient golddigging wife as Honey alternated between models, designers, photographers, bartenders, strangers - whoever, really - and the pair eventually met in the middle, so to speak. While neither Morton nor Honey would be quick to admit it, their attraction was not purely physically or materially driven, although those were certainly taken into consideration. Perhaps the best example of this is the fact that when Honey discovered she was pregnant, the decision that Morton would adopt the child was almost undisputed. (Convincing Rachelle was an entirely different matter.) As much as Morton might regret the decision, it nevertheless stands as a testament to the genuine affection he harbored towards Honey, and one that was likely mutual. It's hard to tell with Honey. She likes everyone.
Personal History: A trait that was passed on to her bastard daughter Artemis, in fact. Even as a child, little Miss Madarang was a people-pleaser. She emulated her stepmother, her father, her sister, her friends, the models she saw on a regular basis - just about everyone, really. Missy was desperate to be liked as a child, in part because she had convinced herself that her mother had left her with her father and her evil stepmother because Missy just wasn't good enough. A fear of abandonment and a natural lack of regard for consequence made Missy the ideal follower to any aspiring leader; as such, Missy found herself the right-hand woman or supporting voice behind almost every aspiring queen bee throughout elementary school. She wore what they told her to wear, laughed when they told her to laugh, and generally did as she was instructed.

Now, it has to be pointed out that Missy was not an entirely subservient little girl - not, at least, when it came to getting things she wanted. Missy has always been skilled in whining, flirting, and crying, the three most important skills for untalented, dumb pretty girls. Unsurprisingly, Missy was utterly spoiled as a child, though it's hard to say she was spoiled rotten; after all, as annoying and catty as she can be, she's just too dumb and happy to really hate. This, combined with her undying loyalty, got Missy through elementary and middle school - and, after the revelation that she was a witch, got her through Hogwarts as well.

When she first came to Hogwarts, her utter idiocy was blamed on the fact that she was a Muggleborn who had never even seen magic until the age of 11. As time went on, however, it became apparent that Missy's idiocy was just a born talent. After making friends with Phoebe Ackerly and Miranda Smith on the train ride over (girls who were clearly destined to become her dormmates and omgbffs), Missy fell in almost instantly with Gretchen Goyle's little clique of bitchy girls - she was a bit too naturally catty from her days as Queen Bee Sidekick for the Hopkinses and Jordans of the world, after all, and she needed someone to look up to. (Thank God Mayweather didn't get to her first.)

Over time, Artemis has more or less stuck to her role as the dumb sidekick; she's gossipy, catty, stupid, and pretty - and none of those things seem about to change. I mean, she only passed two of her OWLS. Two. The girl is absolutely hopeless.

personality;

-dumber than a bag of bricks
-pretty and entitled
-catty/gossipy/bitchy/rude
-follower to the extreme
-abandonment/mommy issues

(yeah whatever this is under construction)
